Syd Ball, played tennis in Sydney, Australia for all his junior career. He played all the national junior tournaments and was #3 in the country! As a junior he played with John Newcome (former #1 in the World), Fred Stole and Vic Edwards, all tennis legends in Australia. Syd also played with Evonne Goolagong a former top 10 WTA player whom with he won the New Zealand Open mixed doubles.
Syd turned Pro in 1968 and reached a high of #37 in the world in singles and #10 in doubles! He has 68 professional singles wins! He played with Bob Giltman, Bob Carmichael and Ross Case and against Jimmy Connors (former number 1 in the World) and Ilie Nastase. Syd had a win against former Australian champion and Wimbledon runner up Roscoe Tanner. Syd played the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. He was a Semi Finalist in Singles at the US Open and went to the 4th round playing doubles with Stan Smith.

Syd has coached tennis for over 40 years and works with all levels of adults and junior players. He coached his sons Cameron and Carsten Ball who have great tennis careers and are Partners with Top Seed – Costa Mesa. He worked with John Fitzgerald a fellow Australian who won 7 Grand Slam titles!!! He also coached Wally Masur and Lisa Bonder a former top 10 player on the WTA Tour! Syd is a fantastic junior coach and 8 of his players made it to #1 in the USA as National Junior Players.
